Over the half-term - regardless of how you did on Paper 1 - you have to make sure you revise at the same level of intensity for Paper 2 as you did for Paper 1.
Paper 1 wont count for nothing if you do badly on Paper 2. To be an A grade student - you have to do well (roughly over 65 marks) on both papers each. To be an A* grade student, you have to have 2 excellent papers. There is no two ways about it. You all should also have the Predicted Paper Pack from Maths Genie (handed out in class on Thursday). Do these under exam conditions and check your solutions on Maths Genie. Go over your Calculator Papers from previous years (2010-2015). You should all have these in your revision folders. Look over any questions that troubled you then. Redo those question under timed condition. I would personally recommend completing all of November 2013 Higher Paper 2 under timed conditions too. Side note: Anything you put into your calculator - make sure you write it down first on your paper ! Brush up on Key Calculator Topics (these are from top of my head, I'll give you a proper list soon):

June 2016 worked solutions are now up on the JUNE 2016 PAPER tab.
Paper 1 was a relatively straight forward exam, in my opinion. This means Paper 2 WILL be a killer. Please check the solutions against what you remember writing down. Count the marks you definitely got correct. Use this mark to calculate the remaining mark you need to achieve on Paper 2 to achieve your target grade. The Grade Boundaries shown below shows the marks you need to GUARANTEE that grade. These are 'safe grade boundaries' so to speak. Based on previous years, the upper Grade Boundaries have historically been, across both papers, roughly: A* - 170 A - 140 B - 110 C - 70 No slacking. Paper 2 will be difficult. It will hit you like a train. Keep the revision momentum going over half-term. No messing about... Priorities...
Complete ALL Predicted Non-Calculator Papers from Maths Genie. (Packs given in class - if you didn't get one you will need to just print them from here) Next week I will be giving a PiXL Non Calculator Predicted Pack! I've been really impressed with recent surge in your work ethic - keep at it guys - make your mum and dad proud come results day. When you sit that exam, remember its 5 YEARS in the making. And only 1 shot at your GCSEs.
It'd be a shame if you came out with a grade that is anything less than your true potential. Copying this statement from Science department - "HARD WORK BEATS TALENT WHEN TALENT DOESN'T WORK HARD" Less than 3 weeks to go - lets make it count! |
Mr KibriaHe's the hero SSA deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So we'll hunt him. Because he can take it. Because he's not our hero. He's a silent guardian, a watchful protector. A dark knight. Archives

Note: I do not write/post/reply to any comments in the comment section. Any comments apparently from myself is not from myself. The stressful exam season seems to be making students forget their own name. Hang in there guys, not long now.
