TO MY LOVELY YEAR 11 CLASS:
I am sitting here with a huge smile on my face. You guys have seriously outdone yourselves here and exceeded expectations. Collectively as a class, we managed 10A*, 13A, 6B, and 3C. That's TWENTY-THREE (23) A*/A grades, compared to 26 A*/A from the other top set class. (We will check for any remarks, if you are borderline a grade above- dont you worry) You should all be so PROUD of yourselves, as I am of you. It has been a long uphill battle to compete with the other class - but we literally have smashed it and it has all been worth it in the end. Your success is all a testament to your self-discipline, focus and hard work this year. I will remember and will miss this class a lot. A lot of funny characters, and crazy fun lessons. The rap battles, the end-of-lesson-motivational-speeches and the constant 'bants' in the class was too much. But you all also knew your boundaries and when to knuckle down and get some serious work done too. I thank you all for your efforts this year, and for believing in yourselves. Celebrate this day, and enjoy this moment. And all the best for the future :) Mr Kibria

Over the half-term - regardless of how you did on Paper 1 - you have to make sure you revise at the same level of intensity for Paper 2 as you did for Paper 1.
Paper 1 wont count for nothing if you do badly on Paper 2. To be an A grade student - you have to do well (roughly over 65 marks) on both papers each. To be an A* grade student, you have to have 2 excellent papers. There is no two ways about it. You all should also have the Predicted Paper Pack from Maths Genie (handed out in class on Thursday). Do these under exam conditions and check your solutions on Maths Genie. Go over your Calculator Papers from previous years (2010-2015). You should all have these in your revision folders. Look over any questions that troubled you then. Redo those question under timed condition. I would personally recommend completing all of November 2013 Higher Paper 2 under timed conditions too. Side note: Anything you put into your calculator - make sure you write it down first on your paper ! Brush up on Key Calculator Topics (these are from top of my head, I'll give you a proper list soon):
Thursday 2nd June 2016 - GR Site - 9am to 12pm ALL STUDENTS MUST ATTEND See you all on Thursday :) June 2016 worked solutions are now up on the JUNE 2016 PAPER tab.
Paper 1 was a relatively straight forward exam, in my opinion. This means Paper 2 WILL be a killer. Please check the solutions against what you remember writing down. Count the marks you definitely got correct. Use this mark to calculate the remaining mark you need to achieve on Paper 2 to achieve your target grade. The Grade Boundaries shown below shows the marks you need to GUARANTEE that grade. These are 'safe grade boundaries' so to speak. Based on previous years, the upper Grade Boundaries have historically been, across both papers, roughly: A* - 170 A - 140 B - 110 C - 70 No slacking. Paper 2 will be difficult. It will hit you like a train. Keep the revision momentum going over half-term. No messing about... Priorities...
Complete ALL Predicted Non-Calculator Papers from Maths Genie. (Packs given in class - if you didn't get one you will need to just print them from here) Next week I will be giving a PiXL Non Calculator Predicted Pack! I've been really impressed with recent surge in your work ethic - keep at it guys - make your mum and dad proud come results day. When you sit that exam, remember its 5 YEARS in the making. And only 1 shot at your GCSEs.
It'd be a shame if you came out with a grade that is anything less than your true potential. Copying this statement from Science department - "HARD WORK BEATS TALENT WHEN TALENT DOESN'T WORK HARD" Less than 3 weeks to go - lets make it count! I have uploaded some extra papers - Medal Papers - for your GCSE Exam Revision under the Resource Tab on the Medal Papers page.
If you're aiming for a C, then you probably need to have a go at all the Bronze and Silver papers. If you're aiming for a higher grade (WHICH YOU ALL SHOULD BE AIMING FOR), then you probably need to have a go at a bit of everything as there is no point in getting the hard marks and not being able to do the easier stuff on the Bronze papers! Each link has the Paper, Mark Scheme and Examiners Report included. INTERVENTION CLASSESWe cannot afford to get complacent with our revision. We cannot go into the Exam hall half prepared. Leave no topics uncovered. Leave no stone unturned.

I advise you to come to these intervention slots with topics you find difficult, or questions which you need me to go over. Treat these sessions seriously. Make sure you attend your allocated days. This will ensure I see you in smaller groups and can dedicate some time towards you at least once a week. FAIL TO PREPARE - PREPARE TO FAIL Updates:
I have changed the 'MathsWatch' Tab to 'MathsWatch/PIXL' . - MathsWatch Username and Passwords have now been uploaded. - I have included a PIXL Maths App section. - PIXL Username and Passwords have now been uploaded. The PiXL Maths App is great for extra Exam Practise questions, and keeping track of your strengths and topics you need to improve on. Keep at it guys.. A wise man once said: A spider fell down the bathtub, and it couldn't get back up. Then it tried and it still couldn't get back up.. or something like that.. (Khizer please see me to finish this one off..) ..lol Bland A* Papers 1 & 2 Model Answers have been bought and is now available under the resources section.
I created this site so everything you'll need for your GCSE Maths revision can hopefully be found in one place.
Here you'll have all the workbooks/ markschemes/ worked solutions you'll need for your revision, as well as other relevant resources. The Exams are approaching really fast - Our REVISION and EXAM PRACTICE needs to be on point. The BEST way to REVISE Maths is to PRACTICE Maths. By Exam time, you should have completed EVERY PAPER from March 2012 onwards. This means: 1) Sit paper in TIMED exam conditions 2) Mark paper using markscheme and record your mark 3) Go over incorrect answers using markscheme & worked solutions All this can be found on www.MathsGenie.co.uk I cannot stress it enough. Just trust me on this one - my maths is seasoned like my curry. I will update this site as I go along. |
Mr KibriaHe's the hero SSA deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So we'll hunt him. Because he can take it. Because he's not our hero. He's a silent guardian, a watchful protector. A dark knight. Archives

Note: I do not write/post/reply to any comments in the comment section. Any comments apparently from myself is not from myself. The stressful exam season seems to be making students forget their own name. Hang in there guys, not long now.
